Wisconsin visit

Early in November we had a chance to visit our good friends Sam and Katie, and their kiddos Grant and Nolan, for the weekend.  Katie and I have been friends since the 7th grade, and Sam and Doug were roommates at Trinity. They now live in Wisconsin and we don't get to see them as often as we used to, so we thought we'd invade their space for a few days.

On Saturday we spent the morning at Monkey Joes, an indoor inflatable jumping-ground.

Norah had a blast and couldn't understand why Doug wouldn't let her climb all the way up by herself...

Rowan was tired and done with the crowds and noise...

Our attempt at getting all 4 kids to take a picture...and a little football rivalry too

Norah was done with sitting still

And on Sunday we took a walk around the neighborhood

Despite the fact that all 4 kids involved were battling some sort of cold or cough, we managed to have a wonderful time.  Thanks again for having us!

pumpkins - part 2

We spent a second afternoon at a different pumpkin patch.  This place was a lot bigger, and because we went on a weekday, much less busy.  Unfortunately, the weather wasn't as nice.  It was cloudy, cold, and windy but the kids certainly didn't seem to notice.  Once they were out of the stroller...they couldn't be stopped or bothered for a picture :)

haircuts

We took the kids for haircuts this past week.  I've trimmed the back of Norah's hair a few times, but this was her first professional haircut.  She did not enjoy it.  Not even Mickey Mouse, new toys, or cookies could get her mind off of it.  This girl does not like to be bothered.

And then there was Rowan.  This was our second attempt.  Doug's at home haircuts every two months are great, but it was time to leave it to the professionals. It went slightly better than the last time, but still not great.  He was quite adamant about not wearing the cape, so we were both completely covered in hair when he was done.

I think we'll wait another 6 months before we try this again :)

pumpkins

We went to the pumpkin farm last weekend with our friends Dan, Allie, and their daughter Hannah.  The weather was perfect for it.  Unfortunately, I think that just about every other person in the southwest suburbs thought the same.  The lines were long and the crowds were packed.  We didn't get to see as much as we had hoped, but we managed to squeeze in plenty of fun.

We made it through the corn maze!

Break time to check football scores

The pumpkins were the highlight for these two
